The knowledge to understand and control clothing size grading has become more
important to UK brands and retailers because the offshore factories that we have relied on
to provide this skill have lost their orders to new lower cost companies in countries where
pattern grading skills are poorly understood. 
 
The traditional grading system of 2” or 50mm applied to the key fit areas, chest,waist and
hip has variations of 40mm (metric grading) and Dual sizing systems, typically S_M_L_XL
which are generally a double grade
